Hi all,

I know it is not a right forum to post this question. I apologize..

There is a drop box option available which takes about 7-10 days for H1B visa re-stamping.

Has anyone tried to re-stamp visa from US Embassy in Delhi? How was your experience? Please advise as I am planning for 4-5 days trip to India and can not wait for 7-10 days.

Regards,
Sandeep

My wife is going to apply through Drop box in Delhi but she will be applying around 27th-28th Oct. Are you leaving before that?

Otherwise I will keep you posted how it goes.

I think they have taken out the option of DROP box for non-immigrant visa. Now everyone has to go through the process of interview and then they will mail your passport back to you. Visit the American embassy site of New delhi for latest infomation to be sure.

well, drop box is still allowed per following on US Embassy in New Delhi:

In order to comply with new worldwide procedures for processing U.S. visas, applicants for nonimmigrant (temporary) visas to the United States must, effective July 14, 2003, make an appointment to appear for a personal interview with a consular officer unless they meet one of the criteria listed below:

Persons renewing or replacing a visa of the same category which is still valid or which expired less than twelve months ago.

Persons sixty years of age or older, provided they have not previously been refused a visa.

Children under fourteen years of age where both parents can demonstrate that they already have U.S. visas and that both are physically present in India.

Government officials on official travel for the central Government, regardless of the type of passport they carry (applications should be accompanied by a diplomatic note).

Diplomatic passport holders (applications should be accompanied by a diplomatic note).

+++++++++++++++++++

Renewing a visa is allowed via drop box if visa is expired less than 12 months.

Hi PremChopra,

Any news about visa re-stamping in Delhi? You mentioned that your spouse is going for visa re-stamping. Please advise.

Thanks,

Even I want to go to New Delhi to get it stamped, I will be in India in December and would like to get the visa stamped at that time. Please share your experiences with us !. As far as I know you DON'T have to take any appointment but if you take an appt with TTSERVICE then you don't have to stand in the huge line.

PyareGC,

My wife's papers have been submitted on 28th Oct. I will update the thread as soon as I hear something, they said it would take 7-8 business days, she used drop box option with ttsservices.

The only thing diff. while submitting the papers was, in the list they say that they need original marriage certificate but tts people said there is no need for original, copy will work so they returned the original marriage certigficate.

My wife, got visa stamped, her passport came back on 1st november, it was deposited to ttsservices through dropbox on 28th Oct, so it came back in 4 business days, excellent service by New Delhi Consulate.

Hope INS also starts working like this, as well as DOS
