Hello
I recently had my H1B visa approved and processed through Toronto in Sept 06. I am living in NYC and my Canadian passport expires in August 07. I am about to send off my passport renewal application but I am wondering what will happen to my H1B visa since it is just a stamp in my passport, and a stamp on the I-94 which is stapled to the bottom tear off piece of the original petition. I don't have any travel plans in the near future but am always weary of leaving and re-entering the US.?
For example and as another question, I just got back from Mexico and the immigration officer at Newark thought I should have had the original petition with me. I tried to explain that it was taken when the visa was processed in Toronto (POE), but he wouldn't listen. Is there anyway to alleviate this stress of the re-entry to the US?
