H1B visa , 7th Year Extension. How Long???

Dear Friends,
   In Newyork, How long does it take to get the 7th Year H1B extension(based on AC21 - 206)
   - Do we get our passport stamped again OR how is it noted
   - Can we get a new H4 visa for spouse currently in INDIA.

   any info is appreciated.

As for as I know, exnt. beyond 6 years is only to work and stay here.
IT IS NOT FOR TRAVEL.

I think you have to call your spouse before applying for extn.

This is my guess. Please do research or consult lawyer.
