You should really not give up your perfectly good H1 status without a good reason! There are no specific advantages of using an EAD in this case, and as manwithnoname pointed out, H1 is a good backup to have.
So by backup we mean keeping H1B and renewing EAD. That means I would have both H1B and EAD active.
Or Do I keep H1B active and not use EAD? How does one not use EAD?
Do I apply for H1B renewal in 2009 (when my visa is expiring)? And dont renew EAD next year, 2008 (I received it last month 2007).
Is there a detailed information on this subject? I am not crystal clear on it and I am not convienced with by lawyer at this front?
My H1 is good till 2009 (no stamp tho) but as soon as I get my EAD I am switching because
1. I'm getting a second job
2. I plan on having a baby next year so I might not work at my current job anymore
3. Don't want to bother going to Mexico or my home country just get a stamp on my H1
Hopefully I will get my GC before 2009 and won't have to re-apply for EAD or H1B in the future. If you don't use EAD and stay with your current employer on H1B, then your EAD won't get activated.
