H1B transfer

Hello!

I have a question regarding H1B visa transfer. I'm currently working on a non-profit H1B. I had a regular H1B in the past (through quota), which I never used and is now expired. I would like to know if I need to apply for an H1B in the regular quota if I want to work in a for-profit company even though I had a regular H1B in the past. Or can I just transfer my H1B visa to the new company?

I'll really appreciate any responses.

Thanks!

No need to apply with the new applicants. You were already counted in the past and you can use the remainder time. Your old visa stamp, if you have one, is valid till it expires, regardless of your employer. You can use this for any employer who has an approved H1 on your behalf.

A transfer is nothing but a new petition not subject to cap.
