H1B Transfer & Revalidation Question

Hi,

I have changed my employer 16 months back and my old employer H1B visa is going to expire soon and I want to travel to India. I asked my lawyer to see if I can go to canada for restamping. she said I should not be going to canada for restamping due to security measures.


1. Am I allowed to go Canada for Visa stamping?

2. Has anyone tried recently to get the visa stamping done in Canada, particulary Toronto or Ottawa?

3. Any risks of getting visa rejected due to the consular location?.

4. Do I need to really go to India for stamping?


Can you please help me....

YES YOU ARE ALLOWED TO GO ANYWHERE FOR STAMPING.

2. Has anyone tried recently to get the visa stamping done in Canada, particulary Toronto or Ottawa?

LOT OF PEOPLE GO, LOOK INTO CANADA FORUMS, SOME OF THEM GET STAMPED AND SOME OF THEM GET DENIED. YOU NEED TO BE LUCKY ON THAT DAY.

3. Any risks of getting visa rejected due to the consular location?.

YES, THERE ARE ALWAYS RISKS IF YOU ARE GOING ANYWHERE ELSE OTHER THAN YOUR HOME COUNTRY.

4. Do I need to really go to India for stamping?

YOU DON'T HAVE TO, BUT IT'S BETTER IF YOU DO, LISTEN TO YOUR LAWYER.
