Hello H1B folks,
I just wanted to share my experience with some of you folks who are facing problems with visa transfers.
Brief outline:
Laid off from Company A Sep. 26 2003
Applied for a transfer to Company B at NSC Nov. 18 2003
RFE issued. Jan. 15 2004
Replied to RFE Apr. 04 2004
INS NSC DENIED transfer of visa May. 25 2004
Applied for a transfer to Company C at TSC Jun. 29 2004 (premium)
Visa transfer approved with I-94 Jul. 02 2004
After I got the denial letter on May 25th, I contacted 5 different lawyers and 4 of them turned me down stating that it would be best for me to leave the country and apply for a new visa. But this one particular lawyer told me that we could apply for a transfer. This lawyer was refered to me by a friend of mine and so I had enough confidence to give it another try. Now, I can't be anymore happier. I'm really glad I reapplied for a transfer. Thank GOD.
For folks who are facing similar situations, DON'T EVER GIVE UP.
Good Luck.
Sri.
