H1B transfer and extension at the same time

Hi,
My husband is transfering his H1B to another employer in August. It will coincide exactly with the end of his 3 years on H1B. Since his new employer is doing the transfer paperwork for him anyways, does he still need to apply for extension? Does one include another? If not, what paperwork does he need to fill out personally to extend his H1B for the first time?

Yes, you can

Yes, you can apply for h1b trasnfer and extension at the same time, the docs are the same for both applications.....I did the same.
