H1B transfer and EAD last update date - Imp

Hi,

I have changed the employer, applied for H1B transfer and also applied for EAD thru labor substitute labor.

I got an RFE for my H1B transfer. The H1B had last update date as 05/10/2004 and a day after that mu EAD's last uodate changed to 05/11/2004. And finally on 05/24/2004 got an RFE for the H1B transfer. Nothing has been heard so far on EAD.

My question is, why did the last update date on EAD application changed ? Do you thing that before INS approves H1B's, it looks for any pending EADs and accordingly marks them ? Or EAD and H1B are two independent processes ?
