I arrived in the US on an H1B back in Sep. 2007 when I was hired by a large consulting firm. After 1 year on H1B, I took a new a job with my former European employer that was starting a US office in October 2008. This allowed me to change to an L1A visa, which I'm now on.
Given the financial instability of my current employer I'm considering to go back to the consuting firm I was working for in 2007-2008. And here comes my questions.
1) Can I change from an L1A to an H1B at any time or do I have to follow the regular cycle with jobs starting in October?
2) How long could I expect the process will take to get an H1B visa again? I mean the majority of the paper work should be the same as when I applied for my first H1B in 2007.
