H1b to F1

Hi ,

I am looking for information.
My question is regarding transfer of H1b to F1. My company announced layoffs and I would like to transfer to F1. I could get I-90 from a univ. I am looking for

- procedure to change

- legal time period I have within which I need to transfer

- any official timeline of legally staying after losing job.

- any good lawyers around minnesota? Or even if you know someone good pls let me know.

- I have my LC approved and yet to file I-140/I-485.

Please share any other suggestions too. I am in Mechanical field and my wife is in software. Myself working here in H1b and my wife in H4.

H1 to H4

Hi All,

I almost stayed 6 years on H1. Now i'm getting married, can I continue to stay on H4. Will 6 years cap applicable to H4 also. Cause my spose is coming to US for the first time on H1.

Your H status should be valid only for 6 years, unless you apply for 7th year extension for H1.
