H1b to chennai can delhi

Hi , I have got my H1b petetion approved and now I am preparing to goto consulate for Stamping. In my I 797 petetion I see that the approval notification has been sent to the CHENNAI Consulate of India.
Can I apply from a different consulate other than CHENNAI in India like DELHI? In that case what should I do?
 
I think you can do that DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU ARE STAYING/WORKING ..few years back when i got my h1 stamped at chennai my approval notification was sent to Mumbai consulate .. but there was no issue at getting it stamped at chennai ..

anyways in india you go to a particular US consulate depending on where you stay unless they come out with some special provision as they did few months back like south indian applicants can get it stamped at either calcutta or delhi but i think that rule is valid only till 30th sep they just issued the new notice about it .

so depending on where u stay go to the corresponding US consulate and you will be fine.

If you are staying in south india then you cannot get it stamped at delhi ...BUT IF YOU ARE STAYING IN DELHI OR NEAR STATES THEN YOU CAN DEFINITELY GO TO DELHI CONSULATE FOR STAMPING EVEN THOUGH THE APPROVAL NOTIFICATION HAS BEEN SEND TO CHENNAI CONSULATE
