I have couple of questions about obtaining B1 visa . My colleague was in the US for the past 6 years on h1b. He did not apply for PR , so he went back to his country. His 6 years on h1 ended last month. His previous company in US has a business assignment in US for him. Can the company apply for a B1 so that he can take that assignment next month? Are there any problems obtaining B1 visa for him in this scenario? Is it a legal option?
