H1B Tansfer and trip to Bahamas

I changed my employer this year in January and my passport still has a valid H-1B visa from the old employer. I am traveling to Bahamas next month and I was told that I can reenter the US on my old visa and the new I-797.

I am however, applying to the Bahamas embassy for a visa and I think they ask for I-797 document along with a valid US visa in the passport. My problem is that I am stating my new employer on the form and I shall be sending my new I-797 but the visa on my passport has my old employer's name. Is this going to be a problem? Any suggestions on how to get round this without having to go to a third country to get a new H-1B stamped in the passport?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Old Employer Name on Passport--traveling HELP

My Company A was acquired by company B, I asked immigration lawyer that if I need to do a petition? Fortunately he answer, if Company A acquires all liabilities and all assets, etc of company B and job position and location remains same, then I have to do no petition. The tricky part is getting out of the country, my passport is stamp with company A name. SO, my lawyer advice to carry a HR letter saying that there was an acquisition in the company and also to carry with me a press release of the acquisition. Is this safe? Should I tell officer name of the company A in the port of entry? or should I say truth and company B and provide all info.

My concern is that some inspector do not understand all the immigration law, so I do not want to make problems for myself. what do I do???

Please help.........

Hi cdulic,
I was in same situation. Lawyer said current H1B will work as new co. has acquired assets of old co. I even have found this page:
http://uscis.gov/graphics/publicaffairs/questsans/H1BChang.htm
see Question 9, how this helps.

But lawyer was also concerned that officer may not know what all these rules are and we filed H1B petition amending the name of the co.

How did ur experience go? Did u file new H1B or travel abroad? What was ur experience? Very keen to hear? I am travelling abroad next month and am concerned that on return the officer may say "why did u not file the petition immediately" or something like that.

Just want to read firsthand from someone who has been in this situation...

Thanks
