Hi,
I am working for an university on an H1B status.
My original status was to expire on April 30 and the university filled for extending it on April 15. Due to a clerical mistake it was sent to the wrong processing center (Vermont instead of California). it was returned o the employer and the employer sent to the right center on May 15 (after the expiration of the status). They have attached a note explaining the situation that it was originally filed before the expiration date, but sent to the wrong office. During all this time I have kept working.
We do not have a decision yet from USCIS and I wanted to ask what should I expect. Any advice or similar experiences to share ?
in case it is denied what should I do ? try to appeal it or ask the employer to file a new application ?
if it matters, the university is not subject to the H1B cap and I do not need a H1B visa (canadian citizen) just the h1b status.
