Hi,

This is my case.

I was working in US with L1 visa for 2 years. Recently converted to H1 for another employer and going for H1B stamping in Chennai shortly.

I heard that the W-2 forms and Tax returns of previous years are necessary for H1B stamping.

I do not have W2 for last year since my previous company filed the tax returns themselves and did not give me the W2 since I quit them.
I requested IRS to send me the W2. But they sent only one page called the 1040 form.

Now my question is " Is this 1040 page sent by IRS enough for H1 stamping? or do I need the W-2 ?"

Please advise

Thanks for your help
Mani

Your previous company just has to give you W-2 form, it is required by law. The only thing you want to make sure is you have given them the right address.

Hi Bassam,

Yea, Thats true. But due to some reasons I will not be able to get the W-2 from them before the stamping date :(

Can you advise me

Thanks
Mani
