Hello,

I have a query on H1B stamping.I am an Indian citizen. I was on H4 visa in USA for more than 2 years and recently I got my H1B visa approval. I know I can work without stamping my visa but what I really need to know is if I want to stamp my H1B visa on my passport can I get it done in Canada or do I have to go back to India?

Since i live in Atlanta, what is the best place to get a canadian Visitor visa and then go to a US consulate in Canada for stamping. So i don't wnat to make multiple trips.. I was planning to fly to a canadian embassy for a visitor visa and then drive to the nearest US consulate in Canada. Please suggest.

A response will be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

Hi,
I would personally suggest you to get it stamped in India. I know one of my friend who was grilled for 4 hours in Canada. They asked all sorts of questions like why you converted to H1B when you initially came on H4. They refused to stamp the visa but somehow allowed her to come back to US. At one point they even refused entry and told her to go back to home country for stamping.
