H1B stamping in Mumbai

Hello,

Let me explain my situation. My visa has an expiry date of March 15,2004 and i have applied for my H1B revalidation in premium processing. I shall get the status in 15 days. I want to know would it be safe for me to get my visa stamped from Mumbai, India? What are the chances of they refusing to stamp my visa in India? How long does it take to get our visa stamped there? If I am to submit my passport here in US for stamping, how long will it take? There is a family emergency and i want to travel as soon as i can. Please advise. I would really appreciate it.

Regards,

Usually, visa revalidation in USA takes 4 to 6 weeks but again that is not guranteed. But in this situation, you are safe in case your vis is denied as you ae already in USA and if your H1B is renewed, you will be in status except for the fact that you will not be able to travel outside USA.
Of late H1B visas are no gurantee at Mumbai either. Make sure that you have all the documents with you before you plan to go there. Also make sure to document and answer any question regarding your employer. I know a friend of mine who has put off his marriage because of this reasone.Hope this helps
