H1B stamping in Canada

I am an Indian citizen. My H1B was renewed in Oct 2009 and I am yet to get the visa stamping in my passport. Can I go to Canada for re-stamping if my current visa stamping has expired or do I need to go to my home country (India) for this?

The reason I ask is; I blocked a date for visa appointment couple of months back in Ottawa and it was stated that if the date on the I-94 has expired as indicated by immigration during the last time I entered the United States then I cannot get my visa stamping done in Ottawa. But I am not sure if it is the same situation for Toronto. I later cancelled this appointment and have not done the stamping yet.

Any thoughts on this would be really helpful.

I am planning to go to ottawa next month and my 194 will expire on 22nd of May. If i dont get appointment before that i will be in same boat.

Can you please tell me where you have seen that?
