H1B stamping appointment not available at chennai

Hi,
I came to the US on H4 visa last year and now i have been working on H1 since november 2004. I had my H4 stamping in chennai last year but have been a resident of mumbai all my life till my marriage last year. Since i am visiting mumbai in feb 2005 and there are no appointments avaialble for chennai till may 2005 (and i need to get back to the US by march 05 for work).Is there ANY WAY i can get it stamped at the mumbai consulate on the basis that i have been a resident of mumbai till last year and have my passport issued from mumbai as well?.
Do let me know if anyone has any kind of information of a similar situation .

I am in a similar situation, but went ahead and scheduled an interim date with the Mumbai consulate anyway. From other posts in this forum, I can see that if you are lucky, you can even get an appointment if you go there personally (to VFS, I believe). I think that a long as you have a Maharashtra-based address for Box # 15 in the I-156, you can get an interview in Mumbai.
