Hello, this is my first post and I need some advice ASAP.
Here's my situation:
I am a British Citizen
Currently live and work in Michigan, USA
6 years alredy used (2 H1B's)
I-140 is approved but green card not complete yet
New I-797 issued to me for 3rd H1B
I have an appointment scheduled for Monday April 2nd at the US Consulate in Toronto, Canada for visa stamping (I visit Canada frequently as it is just across the Detroit River and have never had any issues gaining access to the country)
On the DS-156 I have answered "YES" to the arrest/conviction question,
I received a DUI in May 1997 and it is my first and only offence, all fines are paid and probation completed, I have the certified papers from the court showing that it is duly completed.
I was going to leave today (Saturday March 31st) for Toronto and spend a few days there, then while surfing the internet I came across many posts stating that a DUI would prohibit renewal in Canada.
My question is this: Should I go to Tornoto or is it just too risky? what are the possible ramifications?
Please help!!
