I am currently employed via an H1B visa that is expiring at the end of September. My employer is currently filing to renew it for three more years.
My question: Do I have to leave the country before the expiration date on my I-94 (also end of September) in order to get a new visa stamp at the US embassy of my home country or can I stay in the US and keep working (despite the expired I-94), and get the new visa stamp at a later time when I'm out of the country and before I re-enter the US.
