Does anyone know where the law says the work authorization starts after the receipt of H1B visa renewal application is received by the employer? I live in Iowa. My first 3-year H1B will expire the end of December 2005. I renewed my H1 and received USCIS receipt on October 14. But, it takes longer time to get H1B renewal final approval that I expect. Based on current USCIS processing time, I doubt I will get final approval before my expiration date. My driver license will expire the same day as my first H1B. However, driver license division seems only accept H1B final approval note to renew my driver license. I want to show them some evidence that my work status is leagal as long as I receive renewal receipt.
