H1B petition approved, can I travel on B1.

I work for a company A in India whose client is B in the US. I acquired a B1 visa in May 2007, the purpose stated was to visit B.

In April, B had filed a H1B petition for me which got approved and a visa is pending.

1. During this period, is it advisable to travel on a B1 visa to the same client B, come back and process a H1B sponsored by B?
2. Even if I do not travel, what is the answer I would give to the Consular authority, if I was asked why I possess a B1 visa to visit B when a H1 petition was filed by B a month earlier?

Regards,

manwithnoname,
There is no doubt I will answer the truth for filing each petition.

The question is, with a H1-B petition sponsored from Company B approved, will the Visa Officer view my travel to B using my B1 unfavourably?

Let em understand - If the H-1B petition too, is approved, why don't you get that one stamped at the consulate and travel (for the same employer)?

manwithnoname,

Thanks. I understand your suggestion is perfect. Here is a situation.

I get a H-1B visa appointment date very far away say, 2-3 months ahead. This is quite possible in the region from where I am typing. And my prospect employer wishes I come there for a month.

In the above case, it is obvious that I have to visit him on the B-1 that I have currently. Will this visit be viewed unfavourably by the VO when
1. I visit my prospect on a B1.
2. I come back to my country AND
3. I go for an interview for the H1-B?

-Regards,
