H1B: Is this one time deal for one's life?

As the subject goes, my question is about the number of H1B status one can obtain through one's life.

I heard from someone that one can go back to one's country for couple of years when the first H1b (6years) is expired and come back with new fresh H1B to work for another 6 years.

Is this true? Multiple 6 years H1Bs with some interval?
If this is true, all the people near 6 years boundary can go this way if one or two years interruption is ok.

Or Is H1B an one time deal for one's life?

Multiple H1s

Yes. It is possible.

You need to stay out of the US for ONE year after six years on H1.

Regarding your second comment.. see it is very difficult for people to move back and forth thereby interupting their life..kid's school etc. .. and it may not be that easy to find a position sitting elsewhere esp in the current type of job market.. but still it is an option..
