h1b - consulate appointment before validation date?

Hi,

I am first time applicant from India. My H1B application has been approved with effect from October 1, 2007. I have a few queries regarding the visa interview process:
1) When should I appear before the consulate?
2) Can I appear for the interview in this month itself?
3) Is there any date before which I cannot appear for the interview?
4) Is there any advantage to appearing at the consulate early enough?
5) Is there any disadvantage?

Can anybody help me please? Thank you in advance.

Apply Early

Once you have received your Approval Notice you should apply ASAP. There is no disadvantage. Administrative Processing sometimes take many months so early application helps.
