H1B in a strange situation

Guys,

I would like to get your expert opinion regarding my H1B status.This is my situation.

a)Transferred my H1B to a new company on Sept 2002
b)Right now working in Canada since I am a Canadian PR

My Question is :::
Do I need to wait till my actual I797 from the new company inorder to start working?

If so Do I need to stamp the I797 while crossing the border or can I come with the new I797 with the old H1B stamp?

Can start immediately ater filing

you can start immediately after the new company files for H-1 and you don't need the I-797 approval. The law was passed long time ago.
