H1B holder marrying a green card holder

I got my H1B visa 6 months ago.
Can you get GC by marrying a green card holder (He just got it six months ago too)
How about work permit? I am planning on changing my job in the future and if I would get work permit thru this process, I would rather not transfer my H1visa. Also, how long does it take to get the work permit if you are qualified?

You cannot derive any status from a GC holder. they can file an I130 for you and it takes approx 4-5 years for the priority date to become current. You cannot apply for an EAD based on your pending I130 (from the GC spouse)

stick with your H-1B and you get get your PR faster that way
