H1B for teachers

I am currently in US on H4. I am completing the teaching credentials for california. I have BS and MS equivalent degrees from India (credential evaluation).

Can I apply for an H1B for a teaching job?

What all factors are important for my H1b to get approved? Is there a particular subject, such as maths, for which H1b approval is easier?

Does the H1B quota apply to teaching?

Do I need to leave the country to get H1b stamped or can I get my H4 converted to H1B internally?

Appreciate all the help!

You can apply for anything you like. To be granted an H-1B, the position would need to require at least a bachelor's degree as a minimum requirement.

Bona fides of the job offer and business, your qualifications, the position requirements . . . there is a laundry list of considerations.

Probably would depend on how the individual officer sees it. However, as long as the position requires a bachelor's degree that you hold, there should not be a problem. If your degree is in English, it would be easier to get an H-1B as an English teacher than as a Physics teacher.

It depends. There is no blanket exception for teachers but teachers in non-profit organizations which are affiliated with institutions of higher education may be able to avoid the cap.

You probably can get a change of status as long as you are maintaining your H-4 status.
