H1B filing in april . when do i apply for OPT

Hi,

I'm going to be filing my H1B in april 2006. I'll be graduating this semester. My uestion is - once the company files for my h1B in april, am I eligible to apply for OPT say in mid-april or before the H1 arrives. I'll be starting to work in June. Basically, will i still be in F1 status until my H1B arrives (ie in oct 2006) and eligible for the OPT
 
URGENT!! Can someone please reply to this question ? :confused:
