My new employer (hospital ) has filed H1b application for me on May 15, 2007.
This is my first H1b application since I have been on J1 visa during my medical training and have applied for H1b after I received my J1 waiver. The position is not subject to H1b cap since it is a non for profit employer ( hospital ). It has been over 3 weeks now and I still have not gotten the receipt and I am getting nervous. My lawyer said that this is normal and it usually takes 30 days just to get the receipt. Is that the standard time other H1b applicants in this forum have been waiting to obtain their receipts (not approval). Please let me know.
