kanthan ,

Now a days normal H1B extension is about 6 months( without RFE) with RFE it will about 8 months. If you are planning to visit India in next 4 months then you should covert it into premium processing now. Also if you are planning to get it stamped in US it self then add 4 month after you submit to stamping. If you want to go to consulate in India then you can save these 4 months but people prefer not face consulate for Visa revaldation.

Hope this helps!!!

This is what I think but I am not a lawyer and I am one like you

RFE -- Request for Evidence . They sometime ask for additional information while processing which is called RFE
