H1B - Extension

Hi,

My H1-Visa is going to expire on December 18th '2009. It can be extended up to Feb 11th '2011 if we consider out of US trips in to consideration.

At present I am in India, my question is if I apply for extension after one year gap, will I be eligible for an another 6 years on my H1 visa or will I be given what ever period that is available on my old VISA?

Question-2:

Can I apply for H1B extension after H1B got expired?

Please share your experiences regarding these questions please.

In order to get another 6 years, you miust go through the quota as well as meet the one year outside the US requirement.

Your visa and authorization to stay in the US will not be automatically extended. It must filed to reclaim the vaction time.

Please look at the difference between visa, approval and authorized stay.
