H1B Extension while waiting for I485 Approval

My company applied for my H1B and H4 extensions last October as I had yet to receive my I485 approvals, but did not want to use my EAD. Also I wanted to travel and thought that travelling on H visas may be easier than using Advance Parole.

Anyway, the approval for the H visas are back dated to Nov 2002 and are only valid through till Nov 2003!

This was my first renewal after an initial 2 year visa.

The BCIS are either being dictated to by the economy or they think I should have received my I485 approvals by then. (alternatively they just dont trust me and want me out!)

even realistically you should recv the GC approval by then.

Your H1 term depends on how long the LCA was applied for. If your company did a group LCA and it was for 1yr, that would explan why you got it only for 1yr.
