h1b extension - urgent help

Below are my details:

I-94 Date of entry : May 16 2002

Current H1B Expiring : Aug 02 2007

Around 9 months left in the 6 year period

Applied for my PERM labour on Jul 03 2007

I am not sure if labour is approved or not (lawyer is busy and not responding)

When I apply for the extension should I request for only 9 months

Will there be any problems if I wongly request the extension period (like for 3 years) ?

Incase if we request wrongly will they approve only for the remaining period...Not sure what the consequences are if we make a wrong request....

I would say, apply for 9 months which is remaining in your 6 years. Let's say you apply for 3 years and by mistake USCIS approves it for 3 years in that case later on they have full right to correct their own mistake. If they do so, then in long run you would be in trouble. So if I were you, I would apply for 9 months only at this time.
