My H1B and my wife’s H4 visa expired on March 08 2007. We realized this after one month. So finally we filed extension of stay on April 12 2007. Our attorney told us to go to Mumbai consulate and get visa stamping done as soon as we get I-797 from USCIS. H1B is filed such that USCIS will send approval notice to Mumbai consulate.
I’ve following questions.
Do I have to go to Mumbai consulate? Can I go to Delhi instead? If I can schedule my appointment at Delhi, do I need to ask USCIS to send approval notice to Delhi consulate?
Do I have to schedule my appointment after USCIS sends approval notice to the consulate? How do I know when does the consulate receive my approval notice?
How do I explain overstay during the interview? What kind of question should I expect?
What documents do I need to carry to explain overstay?
I got paid one paycheck after my H1 expired. What should I do about it?
