H1B Extension - Canadian

Hi

I'm a Canadian citizen and holding Canada passport to work in US. Right now I'm holding my 2nd H1B and thinking about traveling to Hong Kong from US. When I got my 1st H1B, I went to the Canada & US border to get a stamp on my I-94 with my approval letter. Since it was 3 yrs ago, the visa and stamp both were expired. My 2nd H1B was issued within US, so I didn't need to go to the border to get I-94 and stamp with the approval letter. Therefore, I don't have any stamp on my I-94.

My question are : since this is my 2nd H1B, do I still have to go back to the border to get a stamp on my passport/I-94 like my 1st H1B before traveling to Hong Kong from US? Is that going to be a problem if I don't have the stamp to enter from Hong Kong to US with my Canada passport, approval letter & I-94? Thanks
