h1b Extension and NJ Driving license

Hi Everyone,


Perhaps someone has some suggestion to the problem I have. My H1-b Extension is filed 2 months ago. VSC take about 60-120 days to make a decision. In the mean time my current visa expires, before I get the approval notice. The NJ MVS will suspend my driving license on the grounds that I don't have any legal document stating my presence is legal in the USA. Does anyone has any idea as to what I can do to avoid the license suspension or what other options i have.

I donot think you have too many options
1) Just let the DL expire and donot drive till you get the new approval ------------- May not be a good option.
2) Convert your H1 to Premium process and you will get an answer in 15 days then get your DL

This is insane...How could they cancel DL? Its new thing i never heard of..Maybe DL offices started tracking immegrants??
Mine is expired and i was waiting for H1b extension..I live in CT..I didn't get any letter. Unfortunatly i had moved if these dont letters dont get fwd i thing.
I suggest check with your lawer since you have the recipt you should be able to drive i think

Outrageous

I am in the same boat. License expires in late January and my RD is 09/26/03. Trenton DMV can extend my license till RD+120 days(virtual processing time :) ) which is less than license expiration date.

Is there any publication I can show to DMV stating that I am legally in the country for 9 months after my H1 nenewal application is filled.

Guys this is unbelievable, beside all labor certificate problem, H1 B renewal is taking so more, and now worst come worst I can't drive. Can someone sympathizes with me ?
 
I have had the same situation in NJ. There is not muxh you can do expect bump up ur application to Premium processing.
Luckily I moved to PA and its better there.

If I change my application (I-129, H1 extension) to premium processing, does H4 application (I-539, H4 extension) will be processed automatically in premium processing. (I-539 processing date 10/10/03 is past Notice Date 09/24/03).
Do I need to file premium processing for H4 also ?
How long it takes to change file to premium processing?
