H1B Expiring and can I use EAD. I am with the same employer

My H1B is expiring and can I use my EAD, instead of extending H1B .

Please do indicate what is the procedure. My employer is the same with who holds my H1B and who is doing my GC.

Mt Ead expires in Jan 2003. When should I renew it, My RD is Dec 2001.

Please suggest.

Hello

You can use your EAD, I did the same thing.. just give a copy of your EAD to your empoyer the day before your H1b expires.

Thanks for the info. Should I fill up any form, with the employer like I9 form, where can I get this.

Also want to check if I have to renew my EAD which expires in Jan 2003. My RD is Dec 2001 for 485 application.

When can I probably expect GC

You may have to fill the I-9 form. Most employers will have this form.

You have to renew either the H1B or the EAD.

Based on the current trends you may get it by Dec. or earlier or later. Best luck.

It's better and safer to extend your H-1B, if possible, than using the EAD. By using EAD, you will lose your H-1B status.
