H1b expiration/visa expiration confusion

Hi,
Somehow my lawyer seems to have overlooked important data. But not only that the USCIS person who looked at my H1b transfer petition also overlooked my case history ...

I first went onto a H1b status in Jan 2000 and so my current visa petition should have had an expiration date of 1/1/2006. Instead, somehow my lawyer thought i started on h1b status in Jun 2000 (because thats when i got my 1st H1 *stamped*), and now the petition has successfully returned, approved with an expiration of June 2006.

My questions:
(a) Does this make my current approval invalid?.. Does that mean i go out of status because of my company;s lawyer's mistake??

(b) What is my *real* status come Jan 2006, in case my GC hasnt yet come thru...

All advice/help appreciated!

Thanks

yoour H1 status expires in Jan 2006, 6 years from beginning regardless of what you got from USCIS. Errors made by USCIS do not give you the benefit.
Your current approval continues to be valid.
