H1B cap should speed up I 140 and other pending applications

The H1-B cap that went into effect yesterday should free up staff resources at USCIS and see some forward movement in all other cases including I 140.

Even if all the pending H1B cases were processed in the next few weeks, next month should see more resources made available for other cases.

Remember, the I 140 / I 485 processing times started to increase when the H1B cap was high during the previous years (Security checks also contributed to the increase to some extent).

The positive impact on processing times due to the reduction in H1B CAP, to some extent should be felt earlier this year but it gets more visible later this year and next year.

In fact, I took various factors into consideration and hence mentioned that it gets more visible later this year and early next year.

Also, remember it is 195,000 vs 65,000. So no matter how you do the math, you are still saving 60-70% resources approximately (assuming around 150k-180k cases are filed normally).

The realistic fact is that, we will definitely see all cases are processed much faster starting next month.
 
Looks like it is working!

Looking at the trend of increased I 140 cases being expedited, it seems we should see many more cases in all categories expedited during this month. Things may slow a bit when new H1B applications are accepted starting April 1st through early June when H1B cap will likely get exhausted. Overall, starting June/July 04 through March 2005 should be a very good one to see CIS backlogs getting reduced.
