H1B - Cap exempt to Cap subject and employment gap

Hi,
I am working for a non profit company A on h1b visa which is cap exempt. This h1b is valid until 1-sep-2008. Recentely I got a job with a private organization B. They filed for my h1b under the regular cap in April and got it approved. So now i can work for company B from 1-Oct.
As you see there is a gap from Sep-1 to Oct-1st. What i intend to do is file for extension of my company A (cap exempt) h1b for that one month gap.
Based on this scenario, here are the questions i have:
1. Is it possible for me to travel to Canada and get my h1b stamped for my new company B in mid July and then come back and file for that 1 month extension?

2. Will they cancel my current h1b since i am getting stamped for the new h1b?

3. Do i have to travel out of the country again and renenter the country 10 days before 1st october to activate the new h1b stamping for comapny B?

4. If all above is not going to work, then should i just file for that 1 month extension now and then travel to Canada after sep-20, get my new h1b stamped and return back on sep-22nd sometime (10 days before oct1)?

I would really appreciate your answers. Thank you in advance.

I don't think you can stamp the visa that commences October 1 in July. I would take a trip to Canada during Mid or Late September.
