H1b canceled and Requested for the same employer

Hi, I am very confused for my situation. I had have a H1-b Visa since Octuber 2006. For a personal situation, in May 1st/2008 my employer fired me and sent a letter to the DHS notifying that I do not work more for them. Now in August 1st 2008 I gave them back to work with them. I have 3 month without a job. My questions is:

1.- What will they need to do to retrive my h1-b Visa?
2.- When could I join to work for them?
3.- What is my status Now?

I will apreciate you answers.
