H1B and Marraige to a Citizen

Hi

Currently I am a H1B visa holder. I am planning to get married in next couple of weeks and my girl friend is a US citizen.

(1) After the marraige I will be appling for the work permit and I have to
give my finger prints.

(2) Later in couple of months I will be having the CG interviews.

I just want to know at what point my status will change?
Could I keep my H1B status until I receive the green card OR will I be loosing that at the moment I apply for the work permit ?
 
If you keep working for the same employer in the same H1B job, you can maintain H1B status until your green card is approved (assuming the H1B has not expired, or you renew it). Having the Employment Authorization Card does not make you lose H1B status; you only lose the status if you actually use the EAD card to obtain employment.
