Hi,

I have valid H1 B visa stamp till end of dec 2005.Recently, I got promoted and my company applied for a new H1 B again.So I got a new h1 approval with the same company. I want to go to India next week. So Do I have to apply for a new h1b visa stamp again or can I come back with my old visa to the US. Can i just show my old h1 approval at the port of entry. If I have to apply for h1 visa in India, can I apply it by post or do I have to attend a personal interview.Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Hey Krishna, you need a new H-1B as your current visa is valid till 12/2005, however, you should make it a point to carry all your H-1B papers like your latest Approval Notice etc, so that in case there are questions at the POE you will be able to explain to the officer the current status.

Regarding getting a visa by post, these days, everyone has to attend a personal interview at the consulate to get a visa.
