H1B - 7th year extension - granted automatically with submission of application ?

Hi,

I have applied for 7th year's extension on Feb 26 2004. As my 6 years complete on May 12 2004, I was worried about the granting this extension by USCIS. Currently, the processing date for I-129 is Oct 30, 2003.

But my lawyer told me that I need not worry. There is an automatic grant of 240 days whith filing of the application. SO I WANT TO CONFIRM THIS, IS IT TRUE ?
