H1B 20K quota

I have a query abt the 20K quota for ppl with MS/PhD from USA.
I have heard tht it is very flexible and u can have any start date for that.
Now, if my H1 is filed under the 20K quota for fiscal yr 2007...ie sometime next yr - can I have my H1 starting before Oct 1 itself....for the 20K quota.
Does flexibility in start date mean tht that date can be before Oct 1st itself or does it have to be after Oct 1st.
Please help me regarding this.

starting date for H1B new app.?

I have a similar question. I have MS in the US and am applying H1-B (brand new case). When can I start to work? Upon sending out the H1-B application, or after receiving the receipt?

My company is about to file my H1 now...wud I need premium processing at the given rate at which the H1's are getting filled up?
Status as of 09/19 was 12400 approx H1's under FY06 20K quota filled.
Status as of 09/30 was 13344 approx H1's under FY06 20K quota filled.

Thats approx 1000 getting filled up every 10 days.
Opinions requested.

I have a query in relation to the 20K quota for master’s or higher level degree from a U.S. academic institution.

I have MBA from India and have recently certified as CPA from US.

am I eligible for this quota? :) Or how do I find if CPA is regarded as master's or higher level degree? :confused:

H1B Visa Query

I have done my masters in Fall 2002 after which i came back to my home country after that. Now i have got a job offer from an Engineering firm. I want to take this job, will i be able to apply for H1B visa now. I heard the congress has added another 20000 visas for US degree holders. Will this new 20K quota applicable to me.

where is the 20k quota given???number filled???

Is there a web site that tracks this???where do you get the info that 14k cases have been filled???

Hi,
I also have recently completed my CPA in US and wanted to find out whether I am eligible to get the visa under Advance Education quota of 20,000. I did my B.com in india along with CA Inter.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regardless of which quota you file your H1B under, all numbers for FY2007-08 are exhausted. So the earliest you can start work on H1B (considering all goes well when you apply in Mar-April 2008) is October 1st 2008.

Hi,

Here is the situation

I graduate from US university in May 2008. Then i have to start my OPT latest by July 2008. OPT is valid for 1 year from start date. i.e. after july 2009 I loose my student status.

=> I have to get H1 by october 2008 for which I have to apply under open Quota where I may not get it.

=> If i dont get H1 that starts October 2008, I will be out of status in July 2009 and I have to go back to my contry atleast till October 2009.

=> there is 3 month employment gap
now,
considering this gap, how will an employer look at my case
will they even sponser my h1?

Is it a good idea t graduate in august 2008 instead of May 2008?
