H1B Stamp Error
Related to the previous post but slightly different. I am on my first 3 year H1B period. My original H1B approval notice (i-797) had an expiry date of 9/1/2006 (Start Date of 9/1/03) . The US Embassy in India stamped my VISA with an expiry date 1/9/2006 (Which I believe is an error, because mm/dd format has been swapped, which could only be an error and moreover the H1B period is supposed to be 3 years right!). The inspectors in the Port of Entry gave me an I-94 with a date of 1/9/2006 to match the VISA. I noticed all this only a couple of months back.
Now, with 2 more months left before the I-94 expires. What are my options.
1) Should I apply for extension right now. If so, would I lose this 9 months.
2) Can I get my VISA corrected. Without filing for my extension, what do I do to stay legal after 1/9/2006.
