H1 - voluntary resignation - visa validity period to find new job

I am on a H1-B visa. If I voluntarily quit my job without first finding a job with another US employer and applying for a H1 visa transfer, how long do I have to find another job or change my visa status to say H4 before my H1 expires and I am required to leave the country?

If you quit your H-1 is invalid as of the last working day. If would be prudent to find a job and apply to transfer your H-1B and then quit (make sure you have the receipt for the new H-1B). If you dont want to do that then applyto transfer to H-4. Either way dont quit before apply to change status to another status.
 
not only dont quit. dont even tell the current employer about it. they can revoke it any time you will not be able to transfer H1b then.After you receive the transfer h1b receipt notice, you are welcome to say to the current employer
