anyone has the experience to extend the H1 or (L1) during I485 pending (after I140 approved) ?
please share your information.

Actually speaking there is no need to extend your H1B when your 485 is pending. Some companies do apply for extension even though the 485 is pending. Many companies want to save money(might not be saving money but not necessary) by not applying for extension when 485 is pending. You should be knowing what category your company falls in to.

jerry,

I applied for my 485 in Jan 2002 and completed 6 yrs of H1 in Aug 2002. EAD card receivd in March 2002. My lawyer told me I had the option to go for 1 year H1 extension or work using EAD card. I opted for the latter, to save money.

No problems at all. I re-entered US in Dec 2002 on my EAD. All went smoothly.

Unless you have any other pressing reason, extension of H1 is not required if you have a valid EAD card. You do not need to notify anybody about opting to work on EAD and not extending H1.

If you can extend the H1 for another 3 years or so, there's nothing like it. It is not necessary as such. However, it would provide you safety for another 3 years just in case your I-485 is not approved.

Thank you for your guys' information.

I am going to use my EAD for the last period of my H1.
much appreciate.
